I was seen in the ER in GA, on a Monday night(7-13-09), after injuring my back at work that day. The ER Doc said that I needed to follow up with the workers comp MD in five to seven days.
So, do I have to follow up on Friday or Monday? I want to stay within the guidelines, I'm just confused, since the time frame goes into a weekend. Does day one start the night I was seen, or the next morning.

It really won't matter, whenever you can first get in is ok.

If you haven't done so already, fill out the WC Report of Injury Forms at work. You didn't say you had informed your employer or not. They may have a WC doc or clinic they use, and make an appt. for you. Take care!
