Subj: Logic 101




An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week,
which I quote: "If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops
in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of
2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers."

The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same
period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and
killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws
in the US, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: The US should pull out of Washington.

Cute, but maybe you are on to something!

Now think about this:

Doctors

A. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
B. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
C. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

A. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million)
B. The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
C. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

Those stats are great reading! I love statistics, except for the ones we see and hear daily on the news channels. They certainly seem very politically "biased" to me.

I have always had guns and so far have never shot anyone! so far
