I am on workman's comp for a severe neck injury. Had a major surgery - 3 level cervical fusion. Getting weekly checks and all medical has been covered. Only HUGE problem is I don't want to return to work after released to return. Will work for someone else, but do not want to return to this employer. If I resign while getting workmans comp benefits, will the benefits (ie: paychecks and medical coverage) stop? I live in Michigan. Thank You for any advise.
one dont resign wait until released and then go back long enough to find another job or line one up now while waiting.....you will get TTD til released to go back to work
no. coverage is on the employer for your claim. coverage remains as long as you have a claim.

All I know is I've always been told, NEVER quit your job while on WC. More than often, employees are fired or employers find ways to get rid of you anyway. It works out better in the long run if you follow all the rules and return to work when released. Don't give your employer the satisfaction of quitting. JMHO.

rocketgirl,
I'm here in Michigan also and my advise is don't quit your job unless you have something else lined up. As you probably know, Michigan is in meltdown as it comes to jobs. 14.1% unemployment is not the time to quit unless you have to or you have something else lined up.
Good Luck,

Hi Rocket, and Welcome to the Forum! I Believe You can Quit if You want, but Why show Your Hand if they are Paying You Correctly and Covering Your Medical at this Point. If when You Heal, sometimes the Employer won't want You Back if You have Restrictions, so they May make it Easier for You. I would just stay with them for now, Unless anything Changes! My Best to You, and I Hope All Goes Well!!

Thank you. Just to confirm; I am on TTD, I will continue getting compensation and medical coverage as long as it was approved for correct?

Thank you so much Limbo! I appreciate it! Hangin' in there...very long road to recovery. They make it easy as far as not disputing the claim and getting compensation,, but the harassing they are doing is just so mean during my recovery! Hope you are doing well and thank you for the welcome! Have a GREAT day!
wellllllllll you will get it until your doc puts you at MMI (maxium medical improvement)or until one of their IMEs clears you to go back to work.....
