Hello everyone just wanted to share my personal injury Nuro IME experience with you. It was a ten min joke. he had me touch my nose ears check reflex then take a few steps. Then told me he was done i was in shock. To make a long story short i was the window cleaner who fell 4 stories 2 years ago and spent a month in I C U. Tomorrow i have to see ORTHO ime DOC i cant wait LOL. Sorry just had to vent please excuse my writing skills.
That is what happened to me when I was sent to the IC doc for my ime exam. It lasted all but 10 mins. and this was the doctor the judge found more credible. It was a joke. Was this YOUR doctor or the IC's. I would have another doctor for a second opinion if it was their doctor. Just my opinion.
If it was the IC's doctor, get the credentials and anything else you can find out about this doctor to have on hand in case needed. It would also be good to have YOUR doctor's also to back him/her up as experience in these exams. This is what I should of had. The IME doctor they had do my IME did not have one IME exam listed on his credentials. He had more experience in sports injuries and teaching.
fritos good luck tomorrow.
It might be a good thng to take someone with you to the appointment.
It you do a search on threads you will find lots of information on IME exams.
Fritos, I guess I missed what State you are from so I can only answer about California.
IME's/AME's/QME's are to follow a protocal. Depending on why they are seeing you, the time will vary. However, they do have to document in their report the amount of face-to-face time they spent with you. Unfortunately, we hear of many who just make their opinions based on the reports they have reviewed prior to seeing you. Then they spend a good couple of hours writing a detailed report so they can get paid. They get big bucks for an IME.
Sorry you got one of the docs who are taking advantage of the system. Not all IME's are dishonest. Believe me, so far I've had 3 good ones; and not just because they ruled in my favor. Because they spent as much time as necessary to talk with me, take my history, find out how I am doing now, etc., etc. That's what is supposed to happen at an IME.
If you want to contest the report, it's better to do it before it is written so the I/C doesn't think you are only contesting it because it is against you. You can write a letter to the medical board in your state, but you better have your facts in order. Did you sign in, and then sign out? Get a copy of that sheet. However, that probably doesn't take into account how much time you waited to see the doctor.
Hope your next IME goes well. Don't be shy about asking questions either.

:P

GOOD LUCK
I have an IME comming up this Saturday morning. Of all days to have a scheduled Dr exam that will only spend a few minutes with me and write the report they want to hear.
Just a word of wisdom from someone it has happened to. Please call you IME's scheduler before you leave the house, just to make sure the appt. has not been cancelled by some ruthless Claims Adjuster or Defense Attorney.
This happened to me about a month ago, as I was loading up the car for an overnight stay. The IME was over 200 miles away. I had previously confirmed the appt. but something told me to call again. Just as we were driving away, I got ahold of scheduler who said, "I'm so glad you called", "Your defense attorney cancelled the appt. yesterday and you need to call your attorney". To this day, we still haven't been told from defense why the appt. was cancelled. They won't say.
Long story, but please confirm your appt. before showing up.
P.S. This same Claims Adjuster cancelled my first QME appt., then went on vacation for 2 weeks. The QME's office called me to tell me the appt. was cancelled. I freaked out, called the Adjuster's supervisor, and after arguing Labor Code and California Code of Regulations, the appt. was reinstated. That pissed my Claims Adjuster off so bad that he is still holding it against me.
That's a Great Tip Chris, Thanks!! I fought for over 2 1/2 Years, 12 Hearings at that Time, and I Won 11 1/2 of them. Now 6 Mos. ago they sent Me for an IME, it Lasted 15 Minutes Total, and they are Sending Me for Another in Mid July. To the Same IME Dr. I saw 6 Months Ago!! He is known by the Judges in this Area as a Bought and Paid Dr. for the Ins. Co.'s, but they are Still Sending Me, even though all He did last Time was Agree with the Original Defense Dr.'s IME, which was Proven Not Credible during the First Round, My Dr. was found to be More Credible!! When I was Fighting to Prove My Case, I made Sure to Have Transportation to and From Dr.'s Appts. for the Defense, but Since I've Won, I make them Provide Transportation, I'm not going to Use My Vehicle, Gas, and Wear and Tear to Help them try and Screw Me!! Last Time, so I would Arrive in as Good a Shape as Possible, they Sent a Caddy Limo. with a Driver in Full Suit to Take Me!! These Bast**ds will Stop and Nothing!!
