I have been approved for ssd and waiting on w/c to be reinstated or settled. my total ssd payments per month are less than I was getting from w/c per month. will w/c make up the differance if I am reinstated or how does that work I live in the state of Louisiana
the combined total cannot exceed the 80% threshold or SSDI will be reduced.

If You are Re-Instated, Social Security will have to be given Back the Monies they have Paid You to Date, (This is Your Responsibility to do) You will have to Make an Appt. with Your SS Office upon Receipt of Your Check. Since Your w/c Wages are Higher than Your SSDI, You will no Longer Receive any SSDI Payments, with the Exception of Your Cost of Living Increases, and when You become Eligible for Medicare, (even though they are not Paying You Benefits, You are still on SSDI as far as Time Lines), You will be Enrolled. Then as far as Your w/c Injury is Concerned, Medicare will not Pay for those unless Denied by w/c, and then a Lien will be Placed against Your Claim for Re-Payment. Should this Happen, and Medicare has to Pay for a W/C Related Payment, Your Attorney will Probably File a Petition to Review Medical Care to have w/c Re-Imburse Medicare. It's goes on and on, gets Very Complicated, but these are the Basic Answers. I had to Learn through Experience, and Trust Me, SSDI is Good to have if You are going to be Injured Long-Term, but the Paperwork and Confusion between w/c and SSDI is a Pain in the A**!! I Hope this has Helped, and Have a Great Day!!Wink
