I have no connection to this company and I am not advertising for them but I do like to share good information when I find it.

If you are an AARP member, you get discounted cellular service through a company called Consumer Cellular. You can sign up online, either get a free or discounted phone sent to you no charge, and there is no contract.

I signed up for the "family plan" for two people. We will share 500 minutes, 5 mgs of internet, and 200 text/picture messages per month for $52.00. This is $100 per month savings over the family plan I have now. I also got to keep my old number.

Just wanted to share a way to save some money, which I am looking into every avenue since I am no longer working.

Have a great weekend everyone! Tongue Tongue
Thanks Chris, that's Something to Look Into!!Smile
That is awesome, I pay much more then that right now!
CC, my contract was up, and I went with Verison pay as you go. The reason is, no add on cost every month, no taxes every month. It cost me $28.00 to start, phone included. My monthly cost is now way under $10.00 a month. But I don't use that many minutes neither. I may have a new cell number, but I didn't care about that anyways. Now you can also buy a card that doubles your minutes. So say you buy the card and it has 500 minutes, you then get 1,000 minutes instead. It also has a camera in it, and I could text if I would like, which I don't.
CC, that sounds like a good deal, but like Bad Boy I went with the AT&T pay as you go. AT&T is the only one that gets service at my home, and I only use a cell phone for 5 minutes per month.
Has anyone tried the MagicJack for service? We just got one and are trying it out, keeping the Verizon line untill we know for sure that the MagicJack is all that they say. So far it is!! Verizon is costing us @ $70 per month and the MagicJack was $39.95 and then $19.95 per year after this first year.
Cellular Service also advertises plans as low as $10 per month. I just posted what plan I have as an example, and I rarely use my cell phone. It's the other half of the "family plan" that uses the minutes.

I didn't realize there was so much out there to choose from. Just took it for granted I was stuck with the big "A". If I wasn't on a family plan I would get the pay as you go plan also.

Thanks for your input! Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue
CC, thank you. I will be calling them on monday and see what they say.

Take Care
