i'm new to all of this but my husband got hurt almost 6 weeks ago and wc still hasn't send him his first check. he's a longshoreman in texas and we've been on this twice be4 and never had to wait this long. he was in his work truck when an 18-wheeler ran into him so now he's suing that guy has two lawyers working on his cases and still haven't gotten word on when a check will first start. i know everyone here is going trough hard times but out of all my family who works there and have all been through wc no one has ever had to wait this long. i'm two months behind on rent have 3 kids and not to mention a depressed husband who's still waiting for mri's to be scheduled he fractured his lower back, fracture wrist, and is now suffering some memory loss and dizziness and headache. i call the lawyers to talk to his adjuster but all we get is the run around i'm not all that sure but isn't there a law or regulation for how long they can take to send out 1st payment i'm about to lose home and car and i'm desperate. my husband is too depressed and wc won't schedule his doc appointment any time soon they've called twice to let me know it'll be soon that was 3 weeks ago. right after accident doc sent paperwok saying there's no way he can return to work until all tests are complete to determine what to do next. what can i do???

maybe you can find rules about paying penalties on late payments.

I'd recommend you contact local community resources in your town or county for emergency aid.
If your husband is in a union they often can provide temporary help. Contact your church and/or fraternal organizations for relief aid. Contact your credit lenders and let them know about his disability before it causes payment problems.
