Hello everyone it has been a while since I have been here. Just a reminder of my injury...Had my c5-c6 fused in october was released in jan.by neck doc. so that I could have rotator cuff surgery done the following week in jan after being released from neck doc. I had the rotator cuff and all did not go well...had scar tissue build up and they were talking about going in and doing another surgery to remove scar tissue. I went through six weeks of intense physical therapy at home as well. I went back to doc. and he said he was impressed and that he is thinking that no surgery is going to be needed but still taking pain meds to get through therapy. The nurse case manager asked my doctor in 6 weeks (june 30) if I will be at my mmi. What does that mean? My job is very physical and demanding and requires alot of heavy lifting. For instance I have to be able to lift anywhere from 50lbs up to 200lbs. I can barely lift 20lbs now in therapy. Is this the employers way of trying to get rid of me? The therapist said that on her orders she is to give a fce (fuctional compasity expected) a week prior to the june 30 appt. I just want to now if someone can tell me what to expect. Thanks any advise or comments are appreciated.
mmi has little to do with your job or pain-it's about recovery of function making progress.
when it becomes clear that there is little or no chance of improvement in the damaged organ systems then the doctor has to say so.
you can disupute an MMI finding by getting another medical opinion and asking the comp court to decide.
