Hi. Does anyone here know good work comp attorneys that can take a case to trial and tell the truth to there clients. So far our experience has been these attorneys lie about everything. They are power hungry control freaks and screw employees that are hurt. They are all in this good old boy network with the goal to screw the client out of money and healthcare no matter how hurt you are and that you live on the street since your home was taken away from them delaying all of the time. The goal of the attorneys is to settle the case the goal of the judge is to settle the case and in the end the hurt person is taken advantage of. Has anyone here done there case on there own? Does anyone know any good ethical attorneys. If you need answer to questions about the attorney club that hurts people even more that are injured e mail me. Believe me the attorneys get away with too much of hurting people with their lies and power struggles. This is for the Michigan area.
In Michigan the insurance company and employer never have to settle unless they want too. Judges do not order a settlement just continued medical benefits, voc rehab and continued w/c pay. On the brighter side, Michigan is different than many states in that, if a judge orders w/c pay and you cannot find a job then the pay continues indefinately. With Michigans economy it is very difficult to find a job.
I have been looking for two years and have had interviews but no one willing to work with my restrictions. My pay had stopped for almost a year as the I/C just stopped it and kept getting the court date changed. Judge ordered backpay and now they have to pay until I find something which as I said, is very difficult here in Michgan.
I have found that the lawyers are very chummy with each other. Maybe I'm paranoid but sometimes I think they get everything delayed in order to up their fees. I/C attorney gets paid by the hour and I/W attorney gets a percentage. If the I/C appeals then I/W attorney gets a percentage of pay until the case is decided by the appeals court. Good Luck
