Hi, I really love this site and the information I have gotten off here. I have my date in front of the ALJ on June 24th. After close to 4 years of total wait. Here is what I am going for. I have depression/ schizoaffective disorder and a bum left knee. I see 2 different doctors for the depression issues and an ortho doctor for the knee. I have had 4 surgeries on the knee. I will need a 5th as soon as WC issues are worked out. I have to wear a bulky brace and if I need to do much walking I use a cane. I have hired Allsup to represent me. All they have told me so far is someone will call me 1 week before the date to go over the case. Well I would like to be ready before this date. Do any of you have any information that could help me out. such as what to wear/take in. My family has a history of depression/suicide issues. Should I document this? Thanks in advance!
Hoosier, Congratulations on Your Hearing!! As far as Your Attire, Dress Nicely and make Sure Your Clothes are Comfortable, and take Any and All Info. that You feel May be Beneficial to Your Case. Your Attorney May already Have the Info. Needed, but I brought All that I had in a Plastic Type File Folder Case, just in Case there was Something Needed. As far as Testimony if You have to give it, Your Attorney should Brief You on that before the Hearing. Honesty was always the Best for Me, I had 14 Hearings Total, and had to Testify in 11 of them!! Keep Your Answers Short and Sweet, stay on the Subject, and Only Answer the Question Asked, don't Add Your Opinion or any Other Info., the Less said the Less chance of being taken the Wrong Way, or being Lured in on a Trick Question! I had the Ins. Co. Attorney Once Question Me for 15 Minutes on ONE Question, He was trying to Trip Me Up on My Own Words, and I wouldn't Change My Answer, and the Judge actually Stopped Him from Proceeding! My Attorney didn't Object, because He wanted the Defense to Dig a Hole, which they did. Short, Simple, and to the Point, with Honesty is the Best You Can do!! Best of Luck!!Smile
