It's that time of year again to get the hummingbird feeders out. I put one out already they usually only show up on May 2nd, but with it being so warm this weekend I want to make sure. I hope I have as many this year as I did last, which was approximately 30 of the little buggers. To make nectar use 4 times as much water as sugar, example 4 cups water 1 cup sugar. Make sure you use real sugar. I usually make it a little stronger at first since they have such a long flight, I want them to get their energy built up. The males will show up first and the females 2 weeks later. Good luck and keep me posted on how many you have.
we havent seen many down here my girls are avid bird watchers they keep their books and bik. at reach at all times but no hummers they poput out the feeders but no takers for years now
Thanks Backache...we have a nice patio out side our living room at our new apartment that will be perfect for hanging a hummingbird feeder. Red
Sithie has some of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen.......she feeds em all
do you remember the seeds sithie sent us along with the squash ones ? mine is alive and doing well is about 8 in tall now i am so thrilled
We don't get many hummers, but the Robins are in full force some already building nests, and others just hunting worms. I can sit here at my computer and watch them out of a window overlooking my front lawn. I may try Backaches recipe and see if I can attract more as she calls them ( Little Buggers)

I also wanted to say , Glad Dave is feeling better, and hope you recoupe soon, Spring is in the air and hopefully will be better than this winter was for you, Dave and Family. Take care and enjoy all the critters, and nature.....
I have been having hummingbirds for about a month now. Those lil suckers are drinking plenty of the nectar I am putting out. I hope to have as many as I had last year which was a slew of them. So far I only have seen 2 of them.....but I am taking good care of them.
