I was posting to Jayne this morning as my cell phone rang.
My son's school was calling with the news my son was seizuring at school and the emergency medical plan had been activated.
By the time I got to his school I had gotten the directions from his doctor to take his to the local hospital.
When we got to the hospital Cody was taken to a room where vitals were checked, his BP was 142/97, I believe this is high for a 10 yr old child. His eyes were dilated and he was unresponsive to questions asked of him.
Thw doctor orderd a CT scan and blood work to check meds levels, the resluts were good on both tests.
We returned home a short time ago and I am keeping a close eye on him.

Cody is doing better; I did send him back to school today.
Seizures will change a person's personality, and it has done so with him.
Today at school the staff will be on watch for more seizures, the norm is when a person has one seizure, more will follow.
I have an IEP (Individual Educational Plan) meeting at his school tomorrow to review his educational plan for the next year. At this meeting the school wants me to sign paper work to discontinue his bus para.
When Cody was 4 yrs and in the early childhood program he seizured 2 mornings in a row while on the bus on the way to school. I learned about the seizures after he got home from school the 2nd day he seizure. The school had not contacted me that he had seizured on the first day and I was not notified of the 2nd seizure.
The bus had four other students, my son & the bus driver on it at the time of my son's seizure. The lack of staff in a medical situation places all students in danger!
We now have in place an Emergency Medical Plan. The plan consists of exact documented steps to take in case of a seizure or asthma attack. In past years I have serve on the state advisor board for Kansas Department of Health & Environment. The agency was the creator or emergency plans for the school environment.
I am writing this information not only to share about my son but to also to share the importance of having a medical plan in place for all situations with documented steps of action.
Having one yesterday saved my son's life!
SCARY!!! I hope everything is ok now!
He is in my prayers (you are still there too)

Bummer,
I am sorry that your son had a seizure, but glad that you were able to send him back to school today. Must have been a pretty scary thing for the poor little guy. I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, just as I do everyone else from this forum.
