Hi all...Yesterday I started my finishing touches for Easter and began thinking about each of you and hoping that your day is filled with lots of love, hugs from family, laughter and joy. Consequently, I began to wonder what you all have planned for this exciting and wonderful day. We have a lot of traditions which have changed over the years as our lives have all changed, but traditions they are. New generations, new traditions I guess.
Typically and this year, the kids and their families will be at our home. Our home is the largest and most able to handle groups and so forth. However, the grands will be here early in the morning and grandma will have all their eggs ready for decoration. They will decorate while Brandi and I finish last touches for the meal. Once the eggs are done, they will all get dressed in their Easter best.. take baths, wash their hair, and so forth... lots of little girls you know. They are sort of all girly except for Alexia..she tends to be more done to earth and that is all a waste of time kind of gal. However, once they are all dressed and ready for pictures, they will come down the stairs and we will take family pictures and other pictures. After the pictures, this should be around 2 pm..they will then set to listen to a story of how Chris arose from his grave and I will tell them about Jesus and his love for them. Then of course their must be some talk about an easter bunny and that he or she is out hiding eggs for them to collect. While the story is happening, Chris our son, Daniel our son in law and papa (Del) will be out front hiding all the eggs that they decorated and then some of the candy and money eggs that I always surprise them with. Once the eggs are hidden, the stories are told, then the kids rush out to find their eggs with their easter baskets that grandma always has for each of them to find eggs in. Once this is completed, and all the pictures are done ect...then the kids come in back in and receive their BIG easter baskets that is filled with goodies from grandma and papa. Each year I make their baskets and fill it up with books, toys, candy, and other things. Usually there is a theme. Last year it was pool side. This year it was hair and make up etc. Since Alexia loves to read and does not get into the hair and make up thing...etc...she gets a lot of books etc. They will have fun and we will take lots of pictures. Then after this, the dinner is set on the table and we all set at our places around our table and enjoy a nice hot easter meal. Usually it is ham and all the trimming.
I truly enjoy this day with my kids and their kids, I am hoping that each of you have a day filled with love and joy. Always remember that what ever you are or are not doing, my heart and thoughts will be with you. Love Red
