I have been asked to apply for a position on the The State of Kansas Special Education Advisory Board.

This is a position held by parents, educators, legislators, and members of the public. Members hold a advisory position advising, and decison making of issues related to secial education and work with the lead agencey, Kansas Department of Education.

In past years I have held 3 advisory positions at the state level with different agencies.

I would receive monies for travel cost along with a small pay for my time. My biggest challenge would be my health challenges.

I will let you know if I decide to apply.
good luck in whatever you decide
Good luck Bummer in whatever you decide....it sounds wonderful but not to put a damper on it...don't forget YOU...and your health. love Red
Bummer- I know that you would be a blessing to the board and all the child you would be able to help.
Bummer, You Have done so much For Kids That Are Less Fortunate Than Most Kids,Those Little Guys And Girls Need someone like you to help them,If You Think Your Health Would Allow You To Do This Job, Go For It,Maybe You Could Set Your Own Hours And They Would work With You On That.I Know You Have Given Me Some Great Advice With My Son The Last Couple Of Years, Good Luck To You, This Job Would Be Right Up Your Alley,Jenn
would you lose your SSDI?
good luck I wish you the best of luck.
I pray you make the right decision for "YOU".
Red is right, don't forget about your own health in the process.

Jayne, I believe it would be the same as the other advisory state positions I have held, (need to check on this) My SSDI would not be an issue if I accept the position.

This would be considered a volunteer position because the small amount of pay that goes with this psition would be enough to cover time for attending a quaterly meeting, travel expenses, child care, and motel expense.

I would need to travel to the state capital of Topeka, two hours away.
Right now I have a tough time traveling to the West side of Wichita.

I am doing research into this position as to what it involves and then will make a decision.
