Yes, I was approved on my first try. I was one of the lucky ones I think.
It depends on your injury or health severity. I hope you informed all your treating doctors that you were going to apply....they can help you, simply by wording in their records.

Wow this is right up my alley. It depends on the doctor's notes. Make sure they document everything. I have been turned down 2 times and have been waiting over 1 1/2 years to go before the judge. So I have close to 3 years of waiting so far. If you get turned down on your first attempt my advice is hire an attorney. They take care of all the doctor's notes, dates,.etc. All you have to do is go to your doctor's and keep your attorney updated with everything. The attorney will take up to $5,300 if you win. So keep this in mind. The main thing I will tell you is be VERY patient. They try to starve us to death.

SSDI approval can be a short time period or a long one. Some have gotten it in three months on the first try and some have gotten it after an appeal (4 months) and others have gotten it after two years of trying.
What you can do to try and speed up the process it to supply all your medical records to SSA, and follow what Lilly said, let your drs. know what you are up to.

My injury was to the back and I have nerve damage. At the bottom of my post, it states what procedures have been done.

Well I applied the first time a year ago now. Filed for my hearing about a month ago and have been told it takes around 2 years to get that.
