State of Wisconsin:
hi... I had surgery last week on my hand to release a trigger finger. I let my work know I was having surgery within 4 days, whether this was caused by my work duties or not, I needed it done.
When I mentioned what I was having done , and then answering their question as possible causes of trigger finger...They sounded very concerned and insist they file a WC claim.
Today, the insurance adjuster called and asked me all sorts of questions, ( including asking me if I ever filed a WC claim before which I have about 8 years ago for my back) ....also they recorded the conversation.
She said they sent me a check for 1 day missed work, because they only have a certain time period to send payment, and that my injury payment starts from my day of surgery and on. She wanted to get medical records to see if my doctor says its work related.
I wonder if my doctor says he doesn't know for sure if its work related that if I cash the 1 day check, if I have to pay it back? I'm still off work and have a follow up tomorrow to see when I can go back to work.
The more I thought about it, if the doctor says its not work related, should I just drop it? As I stated before, WC or not I needed the surgery. I need my job, I have 3 kids to support. I just dont want to cause any trouble unless I am entitled to it by law.
Thanks!
