After receiving all my medical bills, therapy and part of my salary for an injury I received at work my husband in now wanting me to place a caim with the insurance company for a settlement. Is this part of workmans comp like he's saying it is or would this be considered a suit agaisnt my place of employment? He's telling me that I am entitled to this amount of money for future problems that I might have with my ankle. I had pins and plates put in. He is telling me that my place of employment is probably surprised that I haven't filed a claim for this. Is this something that I should be getting, because I got injured at work?
welcome louise and let me start by saying this,we need more info like ur state,if there is permanent restrictions and so on,this will help others answer your questions.someone will be along soon to help i see BAD BOY is on-line.
no state; no response.
louise, most states pay along the same lines in med bills,Doc bill and lost wages....some states pay for mileage and some have certain things they pay for or wont pay for thats why they wanted state info.....if you are back 100% there may not be a settlement you should talk to your Doc and ask him if you will have a disabilty rating % that is what is used to determine if there is more money coming to you....There could be some problems pop up such as screws needing removed if the hardware bug you or not healing right......let it heal and if all is ok the adjuster thru WC will contact you......as long as you are getting your meds and doc bills paid for and your lost wages....be cool until Doc releases you back to work MMI...if he has released you you can call your adjuster and ask if a disabilty rating % has been given...if he says yes and its -0- you most likely wont have anymore coming....if he gives you a number...then come back and give the disabilty rating and we can be a bit more help.....I wouldnt sign away medical for a bit to make sure there is no healing problems with it....and welcome to the best info site on the web
Thank you jayne, your reply was very nice. Your information about there possibly being a disabilty rating % was very helpful. I will be looking back at my records and making the necessary calls to find this information out. Thanks to all of you on this forum, I enjoyed using this site.
But you need to put your state in...LOL.
