I do not know anything about workers compensation. I am a teacher. I got injured on the job. The doctor stated I can not go back to work for about 6 weeks due to broken bones. He continues to extend the date each time because I am not better. I still get paid and I assume that workers comp ins. will be paying for my medical bills. Is this the extent of workers comp. Is there any reason why I should need a workers comp lawyer. Some People have stated to me that I can be financially compensated for pain and injuries, etc. Can I be financially compensated? Do I need to get a lawyer? I do love my job. Therefore, my fear is if I get a lawyer, who am I suing the school district or insurance company and is this process done confidentially so that there is no animosity between the district and myself. Am I being rational/reasonabe or not?

Hi and welcome, First off you need to let everyone know youor state and is W/c giving you a hard time? Plus w/c does not pay for pain and suffer just lost wages and medical/ Some of the pro's on here will be able to help you good luck.
My state is NY. From what I know W/C has been paying my medical bills. The doc has not complained to me in regards to that. Therefore, I assume all is well in that area. I am still getting paid. Therefore, I guess your saying I don't need a lawyer and I would need one if I was not being paid or my medical bills were not being covered?
Yeah and No, Is this going to be a life long injury and are you gonna be able to do the same work after the injury there are many questions for that but it never hurts to talk to one but some of the pro's on here will be able to help you more. They have been throu what noone should have to suffer throu. They are really good people and will be able to help you more.
Mina, as long as You are Comfortable with Your Medical treatment so far, and You are being Paid Monetary Benefits, and All is going Smooth, if it's not Broke, don't try and Fix it! I'm not Sure of Pain and Suffering Payments in NY, but My State and Many others don;t Pay for that, they Pay to get You back to as Normal as Possible, and get You back to Work. If You feel things are not O.K., and Your Treatment is Sub-Par, then You May want to Consider a Consultation or Two with a Couple of Attorney's in Your Area that Deal with w/c. Many Folks have a Successful Experience with w/c, I believe it's Approx. 80%,and there are Folks, like Some of Us that have to Fight for Everything We Receive. Welcome to the Forum, I Hope I have been of Some Help, and Have a Great Day!!
