I had found an old W/C Hearing Document, which states MMI may not be so, if still pain isn't stable. Meaning healing period should still take place. It would take a change of doctor's, and a very good write up by the new doctor's and a good attorney.
(A person remains within their healing period as long as their
condition is not medically stable and further medical
treatment can be undertaken to alleviate their symptoms.
See, Mad Butcher, Inc. v. Parker, 4 Ark. App. 124, 628
S.W.2d 582 (1982).)

Bummer you may wish to read the full Link, as I would take a close look also at Page #7 even though the location may be different from yours.
