I have multiple injuries for which I am receieving trigger point injections and epidurals. My neurologist has referred me for massage therapy.

I'm being told that I need "doctor supervised" massage therapy in order to have workers comp cover the visits. I haven't been able to find anyone in western NY that meets that criteria. Has anyone run into this?

I know in florida my doctor sent me for massage therapy but it was at a physical theropy place, maybe try some of them, maybe they can steer you in the right direction.

What about a Chiropractors' office?
Thanks for the responses,
-I have recently been told by one of the reputable PT's (& is also a chiropractor) in town that in NY it is illegal for a chiropractor to have a message therapist on his payroll due to conflict of interest?? He claims that having a nero surgeons referal to get therapy that it is considered being Doctor supervised if the doctor decides if the therapy is helping and should continue or not??
- My Lawyers assistant says it has to be billed through a chiropractors office and signed by a doctor??
- My doctors accounts receivable/insurance handler person says their has to be a doctor on the premises?
- Friday i spoke with a Message Therapy co. that presently has several Workers Comp. clients. He advised me there is no way New York State Insurance Fund will pay for message therapy unless it is billed through a chiropractors office. He is going to check into a couple things and get mack to me. Sounded like he might know the way to get this approved.
In reading others posts it sounds like this type of thing is nothing new. If you talk to five people you get 8 different answers.
I will post the outcome if i get the answer in case any others could benefeight from it.
OBLIVYOUS - I can't imaging going seven years with this nonsence. Are you nearing the end or still a ways to go?
What part of NY are you in?

Im from Syracuse & relocated to NC . I had a permanacy hearing last summer. I agreed to permanent partially disabled at 75 % as well as industrially disabled , which means i no longer have to look for work. I am no better today than i was 7 yrs ago. It has been an exhaustive long 7 yrs of basically having to take care of myself . I didnt have anyone here to help me with with all the phone calls , appts , filing and writing long detailed notes about everything to protect myself . The system sucks bad. Hard to believe this country allows this type of system to exist. No one seems to care about injured workers until they become one.
