I'm in the appeal process of getting disability (the final appeal, I think). Is there a way to have my atty speed up the process? Or is it best to wait it out until they someday decide to make a decision?
Disability?

Would this be social security?
Snow...it took my husband a long time. He was denied, brought his attorney into it and still waited 2 years to go to court. He was approved within 30 days at that point but not without the lengthy wait. I am applying within the month and have been praying I don't go through this. It''s as bad as WC sometimes. Our attorney made a call and finally got a court date. At that poiunt my husband wasn't even on the calendar. So I guess they can do something.

snow it seems to vary from state to state some have a larger back log than others.....but I believe lawyers have an easier time getting court dates than we do...
Hi snowbear,

My SSD went quickly...but I have a friend in Texas who has been waiting for almost 2 years on 2nd try.
Make sure all your doctors know that you are applying, as they can help you.
I was told to get a lawyer right away...but others on here like Still I believe, did it alone and was awarded on 1st try.
I think it all depends on the luck of the draw, as to who in SS system gets your application to view.... and what kind of mood they are in that day.
Good Luck, LillySmile
Lilly...I have to agree. Everyone tells me it should be easy for me because of my age, physical limitations and now the PTSD and depression that are crippling. A friend of mine applied and got it immediately with only a knee handicap. She told me to go to the SS office, ask for an appt and do it all face to face. I have already alerted all treating Dr.s that I will be applying in the next coupld of weeks. My PCP tells me he has patients that should be working and others who should be approved immediately who aren't. Sad, just like WC.

My sister got hers within a month of applying, and she has a total hip replacement, not related to WC, So I wonder if that has any beiring as to how fast things go through........ WC or another disability.
I applied on January 30th 2007 and was awarded social security March 14 of that year.

Mine primary disability was a joint replacement, hearing impairment, and cancer of the spine.

Our local office no longer will do in person interviews. I am told all interviews are done by phone.
I applied on a Monday and was approved by WEd of the same week. get a copy of all medical records and take to the SS office. This helps to speed it up.
snowbear, I have found that SSDI approvals take time. I do not believe you can speed up this process. There may have been lay off's and many other issues that is standing in the way of receiving a rulling. Good luck. My prayers are with you. Love Red
