Injuries to multiple areas a whole body rating. Carpal Tunnel injury (MMI rating of 11%) and Left Shoulder Ingury was added. The insurance co has agreed to the claim (after going to state doctors) and paid for the second surgery, where I had a second MMI rating of 11% This is 22% total whole body right? But I was only paid the for the 11% for the first carpal tunnel injury. What is wrong with this picture?

Neddie
Under your thinking ( I have done the same ) You have two injuries. you were rated at 11% for one and 11% for another. You think that equals 22%. NO, it does not. You have not lost 22% of your body. I believe there is a formula for multiple injuries. I know you have contacted some attorney's. Have you spoke with an obudsman on the issue??????? Just a thought.

I spoke to one attorney and got the brush off. I did talk to an obudsman (not much help) and was told what you just quoted me. Both injuries were corrected with surgery and the surgeries were 8 years apart. Now I am still in pain, arthritis, trigger fingers, elbow, wrist pain and sholulder pain. I am so angry, for what I am left with after my surgeries, I feel like I have not been compensated enough.

Neddie!!!!!!!!

I Understand the fustration. For I feel the same. I will never be able to do what I did and enjoyed, so I am now going back to school to see if an old dog can learn a new trick. I can not work at this time due to my injury, and after school I may not be able to. However; the anger at the system and the fear of the future, well, I have to put it out of my mind and see what tomorrow brings. Are you back at work???????

Yes I am back at work same employer but different job and suffering but I am working though the pain. I'll just keep going to the doctor with my complaints as long as I can until I retire.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also have recurring carpal tunnel and had frozen shoulder. I received 10% at MMI for my permanent impairment award. I still get all my medical paid for and do not expect anything more of an award unless I decided to get a lawyer and fight for many years. This to me is not worth it. I am back at work and in a different career making more money that I did in the 15 yrs. in my old career. I go to pm once a month for medication as it is the only way I can work in this pain. It keeps my level at at least a 7. Which is still pretty high and I struggle everyday to work. 40 hours a week.I have now been diagnosed with RSD.

I personally do not see you getting much more as that is basically standard for carpal tunnel. If you do, you will need a lawyer and this could drag on and on. Sometimes we must accept that this injury happened to us and move on and learn to live with our injuries and keep getting the treatments we deserve to make it through each day. This is just my own opinion that it is time to move on and be thankful you still have a job you can do. If you are in pain, go to Pain management as they can find different treatments for your injury so that you can still work and be comfortable.
