Anybody here have any input on this. Mobic 7.5 1 to 2 a day.
Seen DR today and he feels I am having muscle problems and wants me to try this before any mri or exrays. I told him no more vicodin or oxy, I want to be able to drive. Wants me to set another appointment if work gets it any worse. He is thinking maybe seven days may be to much for me to handle all at once. I had to ask him not to re write restrictions, and told him let me try these pills first then if need be then change my restrictions.
I was placed on mobic by my treating wc doctor and developed major stomach problems.
I was taken off the meds when I reported the problems to the doctor.
Please read the pharmacy information about this medication and watch for symptoms.
Mobic is not significantly different that Advil or Aleve, jsut another NSAID.
Cycler
That may be but one of the warnings the pharmacy gives is it may be very hard on
a person's stomach.
After the doctor pulled me off of mobic due to the problems it was causing with my stomach I can no longer take any NSAID.
My primary care physican says the mobic may have caused some damage.
I Gained 30 lbs. in approx. 1 Month while on Mobic, and the Dr. took Me Off of them. I have not had Great Experiences with it!
Well I dont have any more room to gain any more weight and hope that dont happen. I have not picked up meds yet due to broke until Fri. But DR asures me that since I have a script for 800mg Ibuprofen and pop 2 to 3 and dont touch the pain, and havent had any stomach discomfort that I should be fine. I hope he is right. Thanks for the info everyone.
good luck bronco hope they find something that helps you with ur pain.
Mobic is jsut another in a very large family of drugs called NSAIDS, the most common examples of which are Ibuprofen ( ADVIL) and Naproxen ( ALLEVE). SInce there is no money to be made on those two anymore and plenty of money to be made in treating pain the chemical stuctures have been tweaked over and over to the point that there are literally dozens of different NSAIDS on the world market, many never made it to the USA or were quickly taken off due to unfortunate side effects such as sudden death. Here is a link to pretty much ALL the various NSAIDS with commentary.

Bottom line is that ALL NSAIDS have the SAME side effect profile just differing in degree of expression. ADVIL or Ibuprofen is not really any safer than Mobic or Celebrex but because side effects are mostly dose dependent the OTC meds have less medication in them than the prescriprtion version; i.e. Advil is 200 mg Ibuprofen while the Rx version may be one 800 mg capsule,
The literature would suggest ( no - it's quite clear) that there is NO ROLE in the treatment of chronic pain for regularly prescribed NSAIDS due to the adverse effect on the GI, tract ( ulcers), and GI bleeds, Hypertension, cardiac disease and kidney disease ( fluid retention ? )
They work well for a week or on an episodic basis but you would be putting yourself in harms way to take them day in and day out over extended time periods, regardless of what a Dr. might do or prescribe.
you could look it up.......
no meds are good for you over a long time frame.........but one must have hope in trying to cope with pain.if theres any chance something will work its worth looking into.i could MAYBE get something to help with my pain but i wish not to be high doing so.its all personal choice of how you go about taking care of pain and over time what works now may or may no work later.its like having metal in ur body, its not supost to be there and some times it causes issues or the body rejects it.so in some cases you have to do what you have to do and wish for the best.
Thanks every one, Cycler I was up late last night and read up on NSAIDS. With the side effects I am just to worried to start the pill, pluss I take blood presure meds. I think I will hold off unless I just cant take the pain--------- I see my surgeon in FEB and see what he has to say. I can tollerate it but then when done work I have to lay down just to get relief. But thats life I guess, There is people a lot worse off then I am, but a person really never knows until they are hurt them selfs.
Thanks Again...................Bronco........
