I was diagnosed with skin cancer and have a large basal cell tumor on my face. The tumor is not visible other then a small scab on the side of my nose.

The determologist referred me to a surgeon in Kansas City and after speaking to his office I am scheduled for surgery January 20th. This is a good time because I have a hearing the previous week to add the back and carpal tunnel to my wc claim.

It is a relief to have the surgery scheduled.

The doctors say this is a very large tumor that will take most the day to remove.

I also learned I will need to go off of most of my medications previous to surgery due to thinning of the blood and other issues.

I am on herbal vitamins and wonder if this is something I will also need to quit taking.

After surgery I will have some strict restrictions of no bending, lifting, and driving. At this time I do not know how long the restrictions will be in place.

My first priority is making sure my children are cared for. I contacted the Community Developmental Organization today and applied for emergency assistance to have someone come into my home to care for my son.

My son has Autism, I also am raising my niece whom is 15yrs, she has bipolar, ADHD, and emotional issues. My oldest daughter is 17 and I have ruled her out as a caregiver, she has ADHD and depression, and she has problems getting along with her little brother which only escalates his behaviors.

Didn't mean to write a book, but wanted to update everyone.

hi bummer i'm glad you got scheduled, make sure you ask your dr about the herbal or natural medicines also as you may need to stop taking those too. i'm praying for you and your family. keep us posted
As always My best to You Bummer,I will be throwing Up a Couple of Extra Prayers for You!! I know it's Tough for You with the Kids, and I Hope they can Help You Out with Some One to Help. My Thoughts will be with You and Your Family.Wink
Yes, Bummer, ask the MD about the herbal meds....some of them are natural blood thinners and heart rate regulators.....you certainly don't want to surprise your surgeon in the midst of surgery. IMO, you need to get off all the herbal stuff too. it's better safe, than sorry.
Take care & Good luck! Many prayers, LillySmile
I told the RN in the doctor's office about my knee replacement and she said ther isn't anything special I need to do previous to surgery due to the replacement.

This is different information from what I was earlier told.
Girl you and yours will be in my prayers...let me know if there is anything we can do to help you
I receive the written report by mail today on the smaller tumor that was removed a few weeks ago.

The report reads a malignant basal cell carcinoma tumor was removed. The letter also reports the doctor felt confident the entire tumor was removed and I see the doctor in 3 months for followup.

The large tumor is the one to be removed Jan 20th.
dear you are in our prayers please dont worry its going to work out fine we love ya
Bummer.... I am praying for you also and your entire family. Were you able to recieve help with your son for the first surgery? Love Red
