As some of you know I have been working a little here and there for a friend. It involves lots of driving so I work a day and then take 3 or 4 off to recuperate.
My license renewal was due earlier this month so like a good girl I renew online and pay my fees.
Today I receive a letter stating my license is suspended/revoked in Arizona from a ticket I evidently received in Sept. of 2004. I have a file just for tickets and have no info whatsoever on this ticket.
The court clerk I spoke to said this has been in collections since Dec. of 1994 yet it wasn't on my TRW when I paid everything off 2 or 3 years ago. I have no way of fighting this to prove whether it was paid or not as I don't have financial records dating back that far. They said the ticket is 549.50 plus any fees due the collection agency.
I have 3 weeks to either pay this amount in full (which I have no way of doing) or lose my California license.
I swear I can't win for losing. Just when I find something I can do and have a really nice boss who lets me work when my pain allows, this pops up. I am so frustrated, grrrrr
Thanks for letting me vent.
hugs,
monster
Monster, that really sucks, I had something similiar happen to me a couple of years ago from switching insurance companies, But drove for a whole year with a suspended license before I knew it.Went to renew my license and they told me I had a suspended license so had my insurance agent fax them papers proving I was ok.That was scary.Hope things work out for you ok, Halftrak
(collection agency)
Hey wait, who was this letter from? What was the header saying it was from?
I ask because I got a letter one day, and then a phone call saying I owed money too. They wanted me to pay over the phone, which I never do. They said they were CSI Company, and I said give me a phone number to call back, and a persons name to address, and I check my funds. I wasn't going to check my funds. Then I said, give me a mailing address so incase I would need to mail it.
Needless to say, their way out was simple, by saying they don't do business that way, and I said neither do I. So, I said, do you have a Fax machine, well of course they said. I said ok, I will give you my Fax number, so you can Fax me this so go bill, and what the payment is for, in detail. She said, oh no, we can't do that.
Well, I said, if you can't do nothing for me, how can you expect me to pay for something I know nothing about.
They hung up, and I reported them.
Bad Boy - It's a legitimate ticket that I don't remember getting. So far I have been on the phone for hours between Az. dept of Motor Vehicles and the Yarnell Justice Court. The total is now up to almost 700.00 with the collection agency fees.
I just don't understand how this never showed up on anything including my credit report since I paid everything off in 2006. The credit agency said they put it on my credit report sometime in 2000 but it seems like it would still be showing up and why did it take 6 years to put on my CR???
Anyway, I borrowed the money from my stepsister, something I swore I would never do. She's a sweetheart and everyone in the family except me have borrowed money from her at one time or another. She was very sweet about it but I still feel bad for having to borrow. Hopefully this is the last bad news for awhile and it will be good news from here on out.
Now I just need to figure out how to pay my car insurance, lol...
Halftrak - I'm glad things worked out for you and that you didn't wind up in jail!!! EEEEKKKK, that would not have been fun!
Monster, I know.
I once borrowed $1,000 for my sister in law, I felt bad too. Needless to say I paid it back very quick, and swore to myself I would never borrow from anyone ever again. And I haven't.
Hi Sweetie. Sorry to hear about the crap you're going through. I wonder if why it wasn't on your CR in 2006 is because of the statue of limitations. If they put it on you CR in 2000. They say it's on your CR for 7 yrs but it's actually on there for 6 yrs and so many months (I forget). Glad you had someone you could turn to, even though you hated to do it, I'm afraid how bummed you'd be if your means to escape for even a little while was taken away. I know I'd probably lose it and be a blubbering idiot begging the judge to let me keep my license. And to those who have no idea of what we go through being on wc.....yep, we definitely are having a blast aren't we. Ugh!!! Love ya lady!!
Okay lil blue buddy, I'm confused. When did you get the ticket ?? You said you purportedly got the ticket in Sept of 2004, but then say that it has been in collections since Dec. 1994. What I want to know is when traffic tickets began getting sent to collection agencies instead of having warrants issued. And why haven't they caught this ticket in the intervening years when you renewed your license ??
States have different laws in regards to collection agencies, just as they do for WC. In the state of Texas, they can continue to try and collect on debts 4 years or older, but they can't put it on your credit report. And if this ticket went to collections, then the collection agency must send you something showing who/what the debt is for, when it occurred, the amount of the debt and information such as the name of the collection agancy, address, telephone number etc.. so that you can have the chance to dispute said debt.
I will have to go back and do a little research on this, but I am sure that if the ticket was that old, it would have to be removed from your credit report no later than 2001 and that is why, if you got the ticket in 1994it didn't show up on your report when you cleaned it up in 2005-06.
I am sorry that this happened to you with all that you are going through with your work comp claim as well. Talk about stress inducers. I am just glad that you had someone that you could turn to in order to keep your license and your job. If you ever need someone to talk to, I am just a call or pm away. And I have a great deal of credit info saved on my comouter, besides the fact that I used to work in collections, as well as for a bank that issued credit cards, and learned a lot in regards to debt and how to clear up your credit report as well as how to deal with collectors.
Hope that you are feeling better and that this is the end of your gray and cloudy days. The sun should begin shining for you soon.

As an addendum to my last post, now that the ticket is paid and cleared up, make sure that they take it off of your credit report and send you proof that they have. Of they refuse, let me know.. and we will make sure that it is removed. I know the little trick that can clear up your report if it is really bad... yet keep all the good parts on it.

Undercover...with that next to the last paragraph you're probably going to get alot of PM's...me included...yep, another benefit of being on wc..watching your good credit turn to crap.
Snowbear - I still love seeing your avatar with his nose to the ground trudging forward, LOL! I'll be okay I think, I just gotta remember to keep on trudging like your little bear always does. Maybe I need to see him more often so I will remember

Love you too girl
UA - Guess I was rather confusing wasn't I, lol...so sorry girl and thanks for all of your help. I got the ticket in 1994 NOT in 2004 as I stated above. They said it went to collections in Dec. of '94 and it supposedly didn't go to collection until 2000. I cleaned up my vredit in March of '06.
Randy and I were married at the time and I would've had to have gotten this ticket coming back from my Dad's house at some point. Neither one of us can remember this happening so I am still looking through records...grrrr
Hugs to everyone and thanks for all your help,
monster
