Tuffy and Limbo...I have too much respect for both of you to do it any other way. You have my word, I'm done.

CAP
I understand completely what you are all saying. Number 1...is lets keep this group together....and I mean everyone. Cap is very close to something that I believe to be very important. For instance, in 1990 when I first came from Oregon to Philly....I just about went into shock. I could not believe how close everyone lived and how the row homes front door was almost right on the street that was so slim how does anyone drive on it. Also here in this area there is a lot of discussion about gun control. Living on the west coast I never could understand it. I was sick the entire first year attempting to adjust to store bought meat versus home raised beef. Also the was the issues of the schools etc. My kids while in Oregon all had the same first grade teacher that I had many years before. However, now living in and close to Philly I understand it perfectly. I have always said that it was more of a culture shock when I moved from Oregon to Philly than when I moved from Philly to Japan. However, inspite of it all...look where I am living. Now I understand Philly living so close to each other and can appreciate how people living like that could never live any other way. Their grocery store is on the corner. The bus stops at their house to take them anywhere even across one of the bridges to NJ. I can even appreciate why they lean more towards gun control etc. Living in the country takes on a whole different set of needs. I saw the gun as dangerous growing up because my father taught me, gun safety classes through our school taught me, and I saw them kill beautiful animals immediately. I understood what that meant. In philly, however, kids are not given the opportunity to learn about guns per say, no need, rarely do the fathers and mothers hunt and fish. There are a few who go to the pocono's...but very few population considered. I am not saying that either way of life is bad or good, just different. Understandably this is why the needs and communication is different. You see, I do not believe the answer is not to talk about things such as politics I believe it is the reason why. However, everyone must walk in to the conversation with some understanding or willingness to listen to the other person without any judgement.

I can appreciate jayne's and cap's point a veiw. I am most likely leaning towards Obama, but I can respect jayne for her passion and desire to share what she believes. I enjoy hearing the different perspectives. I also agree with Still that the important thing is that you get out and vote. I don't agree that government should not step in once in awhile. For instance, do they not need to step in and change the laws about workmans compensation. No one else can change it. It must be the government. Even years ago the working man had to form coalitions called unions to recieve fair pay and many other things that we all enjoy today. Was that not a form of a socialized society. I believe that the rich have a right to what they have earned but not a right in the margins that they will take if given the opportunity. Someone must watch out for the little guy, and all we have is the government. Inspite of what I just said, I also agree with jayne, that we as neighbors should do more to look out for each other. For example, when I lived in Japan, I noticed that they do not have nursing homes for the elderly and disabled. The neighborhoods take turns looking after these people in their homes. I like that system so much more than a nursing home, even if I did work in them. We say that we do not like government taking care of us, and then we allow our parents to grow old, take their things and money before doing so so that the government will have to pay for their care. Is this not taking advantage of the government. We are a democracy socialized society and we should not fool ourselves. We are paying for healthcare for the nation so we should not fool ourselves there either. The rich are getting richer so why fool ourselves there either. Think about happened with the oil companies they made record profits when our gas was costing us more and more. Is this fair. Should they not pay more taxes than we who are paying so much to make those record profits for them? These are just a few thoughts...however, I alway listen to people who disagree with them and will always give you the respect for your belief's. Thank you for reading...tooo long again...love you all politics religion differences or not.....Red
I respect all on here and relize Cap is/has been thru hell on earth this last year.I am not now nor ever been angry at her.I am not now nor have I ever questioned her status as a christian its not my place but sought to make everyone here see Jayne warts and all....I have never seen a child black/white, whole or disabled that I didnt love instantly and could never understand anyone who could abort a child for their convenience. That being said I know there are those out there who believe a womans right to choose includes abortion..I believe a womans right to choose starts before she chooses her sexual partner...that being said chit happens...I am raising chit I quess cuz all 5 of my adopted children were ..oops ...but I thank God everyday their Mothers gave birth and gave them to me instead of choosing abortion...I cant imagine my life without them....
I have my guns and no one will ever take them from me they are a right, privilege and where I live necessary to a way of life...My favorite is a 44 long barrel believe me not a gun for sissys I would never use it agaisnt another person except to save my family and then if the choice is their life or a strangers then their is no choice.
Your right Red I could never live in a city... cant stand all the people in one spot no room to stretch or breathe..But I quess the dark here in the country would scare alot of city folk..
This thread has depressed me....I thought I had people here who even if they didnt agree with me at least respected my right to have my own opinion...instead of giving viewpoints we have all stumbled and got into name calling..if we cant discuss this here among friends how can our country do it.....
I have so much going wrong in my life right now I really dont need this chit......I will vote my belief that John McCain and Sarah Palin believe more as I do and will cast my vote that way....Now Jayne has alot going on in my personal life so this place is off limits for awhile....you all stay safe and be good see you when I am in more control...love you all
