My 9 yr old son is in 4th grade, he is much like other boys his age. He
He likes fast cars, playing army, and video games.
Although my son is like any other 9 yr old, he also has his differences.
My son is autistic, he has low verbal skills often communicating with 3-4 work sentences.
MY son's 4th grade class is learning about fire safety. A fireman comes to his school 1x a week and the children learn about smoke detectors, what to do if ther is a fire in the home, the dangers of matches, and other fire safety lessons. They even get to climb inside the firetruck and sound the bells and horns.
The fireman must have made a bid impact on my son cause something came out of his mouth I have never heard before.
A long sentence!
The children were completing a questionare about fire safety
and one of the questions were; Have you ever played with matches?
I asked my son the question, have you ever played with matches, and I was completely shocked by his response.
His response was, "Oh, yes I have, on the green table were matches and I played with them."
This is my autistic son using excellent expressive skills to communicate with good sentence structure.
WOW!
