(Ok, I said I'd lay low, but just one quick thing to add...)

Unclebuck, you may be right about that depression. There is a great contrarian economist named Harry S. Dent, who, using primarily birthrate and demographic data, very accurately predicted what the economy would do over the last two decades. I read a couple of his books in the late 80's early 90's, and he was dead on.

He did in those books predict a major depression, starting in 2010 and lasting for years. He cites the mass retirement of the baby boomers, and the correlated reduction in spending their retired lifestyles will create. This would occur no matter who the President is. I hope he is wrong, but he sure pegged the last 20 years on the same data.
admin..that is sort of scary. The baby boomers have had it so easy really. Thanks for the head's up...Red

Interesting fellow (Harry Dent), admin. This is an old article, but relative and easy to read. Me thinks it's time for really thinkin' about the future--and quickly! Whether Dent is wrong or not, I wouldn't take his wisdom lightly.

Wink...I could not bring the article up.... can you repost..would really like to read it.. Red
I just finished watching Sarah with Charlie Gibson and I think she did ok. Noone has yet posed the question of possible interactions with country officials in Iraq or Packistan, Saudi Arabia. These countries as I viewed them as a military person, do not have a purposefull use for a woman in politics. I know Condilisa Rice has had interactions with some. I just wonder how it would benifit the interests of the US if they don't take her as seriously.
bout the same as England and their queen.

Danny and Others,
I understand what you're saying...but to me a lot of our problems seem to stem from worrying what other countries think, "political correctness", idiotic appeasement issues and yada, yada, yada--not to mention the child-like bickering between the Republicans and Democrats. I just think we should stop pussy-footin' around, walking on eggshells and take charge like we once did. Take a careful look at the likes of Putin and Kim Jong Il. Those men and their colleages abroad have been watching us carefully, and like tigers in the bush are just waiting for the opportune moment to pounce when they think we are at our weakest. Actually, our President's infinite resolve should be as strong as theirs--but stronger, be it a man or woman in the Oval Office! Do I make any sense?
yes you do, and no way no how do we need a president who is afraid of doing the right thing reguardless of which country he pizzes off.......Raising your hand and saying present is for kindergardeners not presidents.....
Wink...thanks for reposting the article. it was very good and enlightening of how economic's work. He put it in words that anyone can understand. Thanks Red
