With age, injury, poor posture or diseases such as arthritis there can be damage to the bone or joints of the cervical spine. The cervical discs may become worn out and abnormal growths (bone spurs) may form as a result of repetitive movement of the disc.

Do not lose this web link, because I didn't save it. It can be your Ammo now...Big Grin
BB....that was a good link.

Sooner...I have herniations along with bone spurs from the C2 thru the C7 along with a pinched nerve at the C7. I have had no cervical surgery and won't be. The spine specialist said it won't help. What did help me was traction by hand and machine and some great massages to loosen the muscles. I ca't turn to the left. My ROM is not complete but what little pain I have is tolerable to me. BB's link is very helpful in explaining. My cervical injury was accepted by WC because of my job. I had to lift from the ground up overhead and overhead down to the ground continually throughout the day in a 0 degree area. It may have taken a long time to deteriorate but all believes my job caused it. I was lucky. I find that spinal injuries are always called a sprain and always said to be age related. Best of luck.
