I have worked for Georgia Pacific in Alabama for 10 years and was hired with a disability. My lungs have went from 70% down to 31% since I started working with them. I am a D.A.V. and last week my company told me they could not reasonably accommodate me. They have for 10 years now they say they can't can I get help from anyone? I need advice on what to do.
Vannasdadt- check with VA, as from what you wrote that is where you started having problems. Welcome to the forum, come often and ask questions or just share.
Hi vannasdadt..welcome to the forum and you have a very good question. First, I do am a disabled vet and have been receiving care from the VA for about 12 yours as of now. Are you on the diability program through the V.A. If you are, you may be able to increase you percentage rating and if it turns to 100% if not already, there are many benefits that we don't often stop to think about.

To answer your question, research more information on employment and ADA federal reguations. I believe that they state that an organization or company needs to attempt to make reasonable accomodations. However, if they can't due to the type of job it is, then the employer has bet his obligations. The other situation with out knowing a little more, is to check to see if your employer have a work retraining program of it they have a disability insurance that covers you in case you can't work with out these accomodates. I believe that most of us will need to know more information to be able to help you.. Red
Hi,
You are also probably able to get SSD with a lung capacity rating like that. Have you applied for SSD? Or is it different for Vets?
here's a great site to visit: http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/
