Hi, Talking about background checks.....I HATE when I am tasked to consent to a financial background ck...and will not sign release for them to do so. What reasons, or what does this tell an employer? I have never figured it out WHY it is any of their business, or their reasoning for the need to know. Anyone have any ideas?

Badboy-it is scary to see contracts like that passed around in employment. I am glad you presented it because people need to be aware of their rights to not sign things like that. I guess my worry is that your going to have employers drawing these up without understanding law enough to make it a legal contract and then giving it to their employees making them feel obligated to sign something that may allow their employer to know way more information than necessary. Which is exactly why laws protecting what an employer can ask a potential employee during an interview were made in the first place. Very scary! But I do see your point definitly!
I also think that the credit check prior to employment is garbage...I do not need a job that feels my financial life is their business. I doubt that same employer is going to take the time to ask that person why their credit is not on par...shoot we are all injured workers we know how quickly someone's credit score can decline after an injury. Not to mention all the other circumstances beyond our control that can lead to credit issues.

I have been talking about these New Employment Applications now for a couple of years. But I found the need to show others from those links I posted, what they might look like. The ones I have seen are like in a Application Booklet. And more and more Employers are using them these days. Remember if there is a way around a Law, someone will figure it out. Surely isn't that hard to do neither.
