Hello friends,

I have missed all of you. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your concern and prayers for my 15 y/o dgt who has been hospitalized.

Special thanks to Monster who acted as the "press agent" and kept everyone on the forum updated and helped me keep my sanity.

Wink, Red and anyone else who thought it was her gallbladder........DING, DING, DING..........we have a winner!

After seeing your posts and going to the link Wink sent, I asked our PCP to please consult a pediatric gastroenterologist......I told her the adult specialists weren't getting anywhere including the GI guy! Luckily she is a very good doctor and immediately consulted a peds GI doc; that doc after revewing all the records, examining and interviewing my dgt and interviewing me said gallbladder problems needed to be ruled out or in first.

My dgt had a HIDA scan which confirmed that she has cholecystitis. She will have to watch her diet to prevent further attacts. The doctor who was able to make the diagnosis said that the bug we both had could have easily brought on this acute and prolonged attack. She also told me that my dgt doesn't fit the normal profile of kids this age who this problem because she is not overweight at all. She was quite gracious when I thanked her for zeroing in on the problem right away. She said that so many things had been ruled out it made her job easier!

Dgt has been having some stomach pain over the last year or so but nothing that lasted long and my dgt felt that she jiust stresses over things until she has a stomachache or that it was "heartburn"

I am hoping she will be released later today from hospital.

Again thanks guys---you are teriffic!
I am so happy for you.....and your baby
I am so glad they finally figured it out. I hope your daughter feels better soon and can finish recovering at home. She sounds like such a wonderful girl. Give her hugs!
Nurse - so happy that they finally found the problem Smile My gallbladder/pancreas problems started at the age of 18 when I was 8 months pregnant. Didn't have a fat cell in my body...looked like a pregnant toothpick, LOL!!! Will she need to have her gallbladder removed? These days it is a relatively simple procedure which I know that you know that I know, LOL. When I had mine out it wasn't fun, big cut and hospital for 5 days. Now it's in and out I believe.

Happy dance, happy dance baby is coming home Smile

Will answer your PM later, have to run for now. Watch out for those shark infested waters, LOL Smile

Hugs,
monster

Don't let it go too long. I wouldn't have surgery for 3 years and when I finally did I had had so many infections in my gall bladder that it adhered to my liver. I was up walking around within 2 hours of getting back to my room, but it hurt.......
