Hi all... as you know, I have been gone for a couple of days because I am having a dinner party for 28 people on Sunday. This 28 people include 7 kids between the ages of 3 and 10 years of age. Currently I am begining to believe that I am insane. I guess I have answered my question. This dinner is a BIG under taking. The schedule goes as such... arrive at 1 PM.. 1:30-2:30 Large Salad Buffet which includes a different Buffee for the kids who are picky but still I want them to have good nutrition. For the salad... there is of course a lettus Salad, Vegetable Tray, Meat tray with ham, turkey, roast beef all rolled with a cream cheese mix inside of them. THen there is bacon bits from bacon I fried real crisp and chopped. There of course we have to have Shrimp at this house. Then we have a fruit salad made with lemons and orange juice, no cream. Then I am making cabbage crutch, and potatoe Salad. I just finished topping the 3 dozen devil eggs with parsely etc. I made them with philadelphia cream cheese in the typical mix, and then used a cake decorator to decorate them. They are really nice looking. Then we have a strawberry dessert and of course easter molded jello topped with just a little bit of cream. The above is done.... ouch, I am tired. The kids are having mac and cheese plus any of the above. Also for a little dessert I made for the kids molded flower white cake and decorated with frosting... they are on a stick like a lilly pop...then I took foam, and docorated it as a path and put the sticks with cake on them on them...they are for the kids table center pices. I have them in the refrigerator for now.
The tables are decorated with a beige table cloth and light brown mats. The silverware is all in a clay pot that I painted and then put a cloth table napkin in... then the silver ware is rolled for each of our occasions there is a pot. Last night I finished the table place names with my stamps and scrapbook supplies... so they each have an nice care that says, Smile, someone loves you inside and their name and a small something that they are interested in...such as my son has an airplaine...airforce..I have a painters brush etc. The kids each have a small bucket with their names on it and it is filled with party favors. The kids table has brown roll paper covering it... and lots of markers and crayons in the center... now I know I am insane.
I have bought real flowers and they are decorating the entire house.. they small so good. Del just brought them home today. We have to drink wine, punch, soda, and ice tea. All to be put on a table just for drinks...
Then after this meal is eaten... I have the craft room set up to give 4 people oil painting class. Alexia is going to help me teach three children, two 6 year olds, and 1 adult, and one 8 year old. WE are painting Willie the Whale... it is a big splash with kids. This will take about a hour and a half.. the little kids have a ceramic plate to do their hand prints on... I have made one so that they can see how to do it.. with minimal help from me and their mothers. The men you see will be in the game room in the basement playing porker... don't they always have the life.
Next.. the kids will play in the toy room for awhile and the mothers will play trivia pursuit... and I will get dinner going in the kitchen. My husband is making a prime rib and baked potatoes and vegetables... I just have to change all the tables and center peices etc... fill the drink pitchers.. etc...
Also, everyone family has a framed painting to take home with them. I painted with the help of my friend about their interest etc. Ok.. I am tired, and tommorrow has not begin yet... now what... now what do you say, am I nuts or just plain insane... I vote for the latter, but I have not be able to do this for more than two years and it feels so good to do something such as this again... gotta run... home made bread is raising and it is time to put it in the oven.... to all of my friend here, how I wish I could bring you all here to do this for all of you... you are all so special and kind. I rarely do anything with out wishing you were all here also...love you all ... check in tommorrow... bye... Red
