Hi all i am new here and have a quick question....I am getting close to being put at MMI i think and once they do that if they still have resctrictions on me can i still collect TTD? OR will i be sent back to work thank you Maria
I do not know your injury or state, but MMI means that you are at a medical end point and no longer can be treated any further. They will most likely put limitations on you and send you back to work.
I am in Kansas and once you are put at MMI TTD is over. Good luck!
OKay all i am In NJ and as far as i have read on this wonderful site if you are put at MMI with restrictions you may still be able to collect TTD thank you
same here at mmi with ristrictions ...now layed off feeling very helpless in ohio
Here in VA, once on MMI, you are given your restrictions and then sent to find work. If you are not able to find work with your restrictions, W/C will talk to the Dr. and have then reduce your restrictions so that it will be easier to get you working.
Good luck.
Hi It must be state specific, as I'm in Mich. and was determined MMI last year, but I am still receiving TTD.
By the way, MMI means max medical improvement, but you can still doctor if you have problems and need maintainence.
Take care, Lilly

The state laws are so specific and so different. Here in CT, once you reach MMI, you no longer have to do a job search. If you have a disability rating from your doc, you are switched over to PPD, which is Permanent Partial Disability. I had to do a job search when I was cleared for light duty work, and on TPD (Temporary Partial Disability) as my former employer would not take me back.
If you have to do a job search do you have to take anything you can get or can you wait until you get an offer with about the same wages. Also is there a distance limit . I'm in PA .

Backache....I am not any kind of authority on your question, and never got a clear answer from my attny or from WC. To continue getting my checks, I had to turn in the job search sheets showing 5 contacts a week. I don't think anyone from WC ever followed through on these. My attny said I could accept a job if I wanted, but if not, could always say it was too far, wrong shift, not compatible with my restrictions, etc. In CT you are paid 75% of the wage differential if new job pays less than previous job. I did accept a job, but it only lasted a week, as I could not keep up. I was terminated, and immediately was restored to my TPD status and resumed getting WC checks. (At the time I had not yet reached MMI). Strange as it sounds, I no longer have to do a job search, having reached MMI. Most states pay a wage differential, so check you state WC law. I also think that the pressure you get from WC varies, and I had very little pressure to accept just any job.
