A lady from the walk in clinic I went to just called to give me my MRI results from Monday. She said there are no herniations, but there is scar tissue at the surgery site. Can scar tissue be causing all of the pain I am having in my back, butt, legs and feet? Can scar tissue cause knew symptoms after surgery? Before my surgery I had no right leg or feet problems, but now especially after bending a lot, my right leg and foot are almost as bad as my left.

I was approved to go back to my surgeon and I'll see him on Tuesday. I am going to take my husband with me and I am going to write down everything that I am feeling and any questions I have.

Thanks in advance for all of your answers and knowledge! I don't know what I would do without you all!

I am going to go tomorrow and pick up my films and the written results. Maybe I can give more info then.
You describe me, almost to the tee. Most of my butt, let and feet pain are from the scar tissue that came from my spine fusion surgeries (2). Both my pain Dr. and my Orthosurgeon said that you can not go in and remove the scar tissue because it will only come back even worse, everytime you go back in to that same area. So, I have been told that it is for life, but we are trying a back stimulator that will take a way the pain caused by the scar tissue. If you learn anything more, please let us know. I am always looking for new info.

Good luck and keep us posted.
I too was told the same thing, no use in removing scar tissue, comes back with a vengence...I wish you luck KSGIRL...and hope there are other options for you...let me know
I had scar tissue glueing down my radial nerve in wrist. It was bad.First doctor wouldn't remove it,but my second doctor did. I did grow some scar tissue back, but it isn't near as bad as it was before. Most of my scar tissue was and is internal, not external. If I hadn't had it cut from the nerve though I would have been in serious trouble in a short time.It was still damaged from being like that for 6 months. That's when I decided I needed a different doctor.

My brother is disabled due to surgery he had in his back and scar tissue returned. They said there was nothing else they can do for him. He is only 41 and out of work for life on disablity. I hope they can find something to help you.

Beth, i called my adjuster yesterday about my PIR rating. He read off to me what the doctor had me put at for percentage. If i can remember correctly from what he was saying so fast over the phone is, the doctor said i had a 39% impairment to my hand, and 81% shoulder. That to me does not make 100% in my figuring. LOL. So he is sending me the paperwork this week so i can see it for myself. He is sending it off to his lawyer to see if they will be just paying me for my hand or my whole upper extremity.

He was very nice and said he would put it through tomorrow am. I said i guess it will be about another 2 weeks, and he said No, they are pretty fast at sending it back now and he can send me a check in about a week. So sofar pretty good news. I just cannot see how they would just say my hand for carpal when i went through 4 months of upper extremity pain in my shoulder to OT. Everytime i went to the doctors they wrote RUE. Which means Right upper extremity. We will see. I will get back to you as i know you were waiting on a result. Now mind you this is THEIR wc doctor. I guess i lucked out as this doctor really felt bad for me losing my career he said.
I,d ask Limbo bout the scar tissue,,,, Look what happened to him,,,,,very sad indeed.
Thanks everyone. I'm beginning to think I would have rather had another herniated disc. I am going to pick up the report today. I may be able to give more info after I read it.

Thanks Grundig. I pm'd Limbo last night. I know he hasn't been feeling the best so it may be awhile before I hear from him.
I have the same thing,It's called Epidural Fibrosis,It's when Scar Tissue forms and affects the Nerves after a Surgery,My Doctor called it Failed Back Surgery.
It's really nobody's fault it just happens to some People that have had Back Surgery.
As of now there is no real cure for it just pain management.
Talk to Your Attorney about this and good luck.
Here is a link to a site that explains a lot.
