ok guys been about 4 years since I've had my last shoulder surgery, now within the last few weeks I've got this pain in my right arm the part where they draw blood from also my arm is locking up on me. I don't go to the ortho till January but it seems to be getting worse any opinions from you guys. I might need to go sooner if this keeps getting worse, anyone ever had this happen to them , past surgeries on right shoulder and carpal tunnel surgery, not to mention left shoulder.thanks halftrak

what do you mean by locking up on you? do you mean that it's not moving at all? or is it just moving so far and that's all you can move it? If the later - you may have what is called frozen shoulder.

If your talking about the pain in the area of the inner elbow. Geeze, I don't know about that. Never had that happen other than when I go and visit dracula and they end up using both arms to get the blood out of because the mess up the one arm. lol Maybe you had a vein collapse there - just a guess on my part or some nerve damage is showing up. Hard to say, but sounds like something you may want to call and let your doctor know about and if he wants to see you sooner he can get you in.
pooh, by locking up I mean I can't straighten my arm for about a minute or two, ive had frozen shoulder in my left arm a few years ago, it doesn't feel the same though, thanks for your reply, halftrak
Ok half,

I get what your saying, your muscles or nerves then are basically locking the arm in place for a few minutes. If that is the case, then yes, if it were me, I would be on the phone to the ortho and explaining what is going on and asking if they wanted to see me earlier.

It could be something simple, but it could also be something totally different like because of all that you had going on with the shoulders and arms that you have some atrophy going on and it is affecting that side.

All I can tell you is what I would do. It is still up to you, but I would hate to see your arms get any worse after all you have been through.
Sounds to me like you would need a xray of the elbow. Maybe you have alittle bit of arthritis also going on. Is it only certain days that it freezes up? I drew blood for 15 yrs. before i got hurt in Jan. WATCH OUT when you call us vampires...LOL
lol sparkey

I call them that because when I get blood drawn, it's never just a tube or 2 - it's like 10-15 tubes it seems. That and I get the one tech that doesn't like dealing with rolling veins so she ends up sticking both arms.

Hi Halftrak...good to see you. I had shoulder surgery in April. Then 10 weeks later aquired frozen shoulder. Worse pain I have ever had.

Now onto the elbow area. I still to this day when doing PT, sitting in certain positions, first thing in the morning, etc. am locked up at the elbow. Some of the movements in PT my elbow is what will stop me from coming out of certain positions. I just had an EMG done and it showed lots of nerve damage in my neck and shoulder. Don't know what's going to be done about it, the Dr.s next move, but I think I know what you're talking about. Sounds like nerve crap to me. Keep us posted.

CAP
Have you continued you PT at home that you had performed at PT. If not, you need to know, that needs to continue.

I don't have the same injury, but my right hand will lock up just like your arm. I wait it out and it releases. I have the C8 nerve damaged, but when I become lax in my home PT efforts is when this takes place.

Other option once you try your PT at home is then call your Doctor.
thank all of you guys for replying to my post, I think I will give it some more time and see if some pt of my own works,It is just a weird feeling when it happens,You know I never had the fusions done in my neck because of wc crap so it is possible it is from the 4 bulging disks. There is a new ortho dr here in town who I am going to go to in January, the other one in my little town is a quack so that is why I am waiting a couple of months, thank you guys again.but if it gets worse I will try to get in sooner, Halftrak

How close are you to the city or tulsa - I know there are some good ones in the city. I know the clinic I go to also goes to many different areas around the state as well.
