Hello all,
Does the w/c take age into consideration when offering Voc Rehab. Say only 6+ yrs left to retire. What if you refuse it? There's a strong chance I might not be able to return to this type of work. Been doing this very physical type of work for over 25 yrs. Accident exasorbated a previous condition causing different symtoms, along with the old ones that I could deal with. It pushed me over the edge.

At what point does the w/c offer a settlement inleu of voc rehab?

I also wanted to add that W/C has been very supportive and I've been out of work for 8 months had one ime w/ no end result.
Thanks
you did not put your location in your profile. Each state has different comp rules so your question cannot be answerd specifically.
Generally benefits are voluntary. most don't include rehab. settlements are optional in many jurisdictions. Ususally your state supplies information & a contact number or has website with information posted.
In VT.
Hi evolution. Welcome to the forum. I am in NH , your neighboring state. The clinic i go to is pretty much on the border of NH/VT. I am in the same situation you are such as being in one type of career for many years and then not being able to go back to that type of work. Luckily i fell into the construction career now, which is very easy on me. My husband got a me a job working with his company, and he pretty much is working with me and knows my limitations.

I was thinking of going to rehab to learn something new as i am only 45, and i can understand you and your disability and not wanting to start a whole new career while in pain still. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. Maybe we even go to the same clinic. It is a very big clinic that serves alot of NH and VT.

Sorry to hear that. I had been in the medical field for well over 15 yrs. My whole life revolved around, nurses, doctors, etc etc. Now i have to get use to a whole different lingo..lol I really enjoy it sofar, and hope i do not get bored with it, as it is at a slow pace now for me to do work, get paid and not hurt myself much further.
Well, I few things have transpired since my last post. The I/C sent me to another doctor for evaluation for treatment. The Dr wrote a report in the beginning he says that my accident is related to my current situation. In his final he writes that it is not related. Th I/C picked this up and sent me a benefits discontinuence letter. I sent a rebuttle letter along with 2 Dr's statements. The state said there was not enough evidence to drop my benefits.

So does anyone have any idea what may be next?

I talked to an Attorney at the beginning back in Mar. No one wanted to take my case. Also the State holds a tight rein on I/C. Maybe I should have been clearer. My benefits were not discontinued. My checks were not even interupted. I wonder being I got hurt on a state job had any bearing?
