I take controlled Drugs that are prescribed by a licensed physician. There are MANY Individuals who leave a Dentist office with a sch 2 narcotic for tooth pain and drive home, to work.... whatever.
Here is the thing, you dont hear of it because unless a officer sees the scripts they dont suspect dui. Its not like your smelling of beer or weed. Here in wi rules are placed on narcotic driving, if your caught you get a dui.. If your involved in a accident and they find out your under the influence, you get the dui and your at fault.. It does not matter if you dr is licensed or not you going to pay the price..
Just before I went back to work 1st time my ncm tried telling my dr I can drive on narcs. She said you just set up a appoinment with the DOT and they test your impairment while under the influence, reaction times....e.t.c... Any ways, my dr would not release me to drive under the narcs... I have driven as well under the use of vicodin, its like candy to me, but I dont excuse my self. If its not a high pain day I wont take my narcs if I need to run to town.. But if it is a high pain day, I keep my butt home.. I used to drive on vicodin, but now on percocets and gabapentin there is n o way I'm risking getting caught or killing my self or others... Like my Attorney says, are you feeling like a dizzy blonde.......
you know what Freebird its not just the narcs its the fact with my injuries I dont move as fast as I used to even when I have no meds in me...and when I do I am even slower....My ego is not as important to me as someones life...with my cervical injuries I cannot turn my head side to side as quick as I should to watch and my back makes sitting in the driving postion painful...I normally sit in the back seat with my feet up....now I know to some you simply must drive to prove your manhood or some such thing but someones life or the chance I could put someone in the same pain I am in for life just to prove I could still drive isnt worth it to me...I know my limitations I am not a dummy I am not a dizzy blonde I am a responsiable adult that takes into account the other people on the road and my familys future...as such I dont risk it for a ego trip.....no one around me even can tell I am on narcs unless its a bad day and I am using break thrus then I am in bed.....but my ego is not worth anyones life

WC actually threatened me with loosing my Driving privileges YEARS ago. Well, I still hold a DL with no restrictions and always drive with my Blues in the Vehicle. I drive 220 mile round trip every month to go to PM Doctor.
I will not give up my DL any easier than giving up my guns.

Ok..I had a whole paragraph typed up and then deleted it.
If you drive, that is you call. Just so o know it is against the law and IF you are ever involved in an accident, you will be charged with DUI if they find out. Whether or not they are legally prescribed is bot the issue. under th influence is under the influence.
I have to drive. I am alone from 7 AM till 7PM M-F. My wife works; My kids are grown and I must drive to get from point A-B.
I do not believed I am impaired to the point a cop would suspect me being impaired and yes it would be a judgement call.
It is not a crime to drive and take prescribed Narcotics; It is a crime if it impairs your judgement and the cop can prove it.
My Narcotics say on the Label:
USE CAUTION when operating a Car or Dangerous Machinery.
Read this article; AND Marijuana is a Sch 1 narcotic. Something does not add up....

Keep in mind that even if you didn't take your painkiller that day, you likely still have remnants of the opioids in your bloodstream. The presence of such metabolites in your body could lead to a driving or operating while intoxicated charge in these states, according to the NIDA.
This is just an FYI. No, they might not suspect you, but you get injured also in the accident and are taken to a hospital, you will be tested by the emergency room staff. then they will know. It's just an FYI - do what you want, just a word of caution is all.

I say what ever floats your boat... My percocets and 20mg oxy state on the bottle, do not operate or drive any eqipment... Does not say caution, maybe state reg differ.. But I do know 1 thing if you cause an accident, and I dont care what state your from and are under the influence and they catch ya....your getting the dui... Dont think your safe even if the cop doesnt notice, if you cause injury and you are sued it will come out in court..... There are times as i have admited doing just that, but 9 out 10 my wife drives me where ever I need, if she cant my son does, if he cant one of my parents do... I have lossed a nephew to another person being under the influence.. They were traveling from work in seperate vehicles, and they passed my nephew and cut in to soon and rolled his truck 3 times. They both were drinking but the other kid was way pass the limits.. Our district attorney pushed for 1st degree vehicular homicide with the intent to do bodily harm.. Trial went on for 2 years, they settled for a 1 year prison sentence to teach him a lesson.....

How much has to be in your body to make a DUI stick? In Louisiana, Alcohol is .08 Where is a Narcotic list?
