I was recently hit by a driver as a pedestrian in the parking lot at work. I have multiple injuries and filed both workers compensation and personal injury claims. What is the benefit of filing both? If the PI claim just goes back to paying off the WC medical cost, what is the benefit to me?
PI can also include pain and suffering, which WC does not cover.
comp will usually paying medical and wage loss faster.
if the claims costs are low the employer might not fire you.
1171 - are you inept? There are laws protecting me against being fired for a work related injury that was not my fault. After 4,106 post, you would think you would know better than to post something so ignorant.
You may want to think deeper.
Yes there are laws protecting you from getting fired for filing a WC claim. However, they can fire you for something else.
There are a great many people that have been fired after filing a wc claim. They were simply fired for other reasons. Stick around awhile. After you have made over 4000 post. You will see what is being said is true.
1171 may be alot of things but inept isnt one of them.....damn democrat yes inept nope
1171 is 100% correct. 1171 did not say anything about being fired for filing a claim, just that the employer might not fire you.
1171 is not inept, nor was his/her post ignorant.
You are in IL, no they will not fire you for filing a WC claim but they can for any other reason they want to dream up
Chicago must have much more experience in these matters then I do.
we all know there are very few workers who lost their job after an expensive comp claim.
