I'm from Pennsylvania. I just received my "seed money" for my medicare set-aside; I know I have to start an "interest bearing checking" acct and I know I can only use it for my WC injury. I understand all that. But what I need to know is:
I just applied for SSI (I'm already on SSD; but I get very little monthly benefits from them) so I was told to apply for SSI. Will this medicare set-aside money affect me getting SSI ??
I had an atty who handled everything; but now, I can't seem to get a hold of him. TY.
I don't think the MSA would be included since it's not income but I'm really not positive.
It would be best to call your local SSA office and ask that question, or take the benefits eligibility test provided online:

Yes; I know I need to tell SSA about it. I just received it yesterday & "Trying" to get hold of SSA 800 number or even your local office IS rather a pain --- sometimes!! And since I didn't get thur today --- I thought I'd asked here on the discussion board & maybe get an answer.
I already e-mail SSA & asked them--- but I figured that might take a day or 2 or 3.... I just thought it'd be quicker here ; but if you don't know then that's ok. TY.
Jaycojade, I do not have an answer to the question, but I do have a suggestion.
When ever I want or need some info. from SSA.. I have found out that it is alot quicker for me if I go to thier office. I may have to wait a hour, but I get the answer I was/am after.

as long as the interest you earn is not more than you are allowed to recieve and still get ssi you will be fine. The only thing counted as income is the interest you recieve from it therefore it will not effect your payment
