IA Second Injury Fund Assessment For 2009-2010

Des Moines, IA (CompNewsNetwork) - Iowa Division of Workers' Compensation received the following announcement from the Iowa Insurance Commissioner's Office:

Sufficient funds are available to meet the liabilities of the Second Injury Fund.  Therefore, no assessment will be imposed upon insurers and self-insured employers in the State of Iowa.

The Iowa Second Injury Fund is designed to help injured workers who sustain a scheduled member injury like an injury to the arm, leg, hand, foot, or eye and then sustain another injury to another scheduled member. Keep in mind that the first injury does not have to be work related, but the second injury does.
