California DWC Announces Modifications To The Official Medical Fee Schedule

Oakland, CA  (CompNewsNetwork) - The California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has posted an adjustment to the outpatient hospital departments and ambulatory surgical centers section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) to conform to changes in the Medicare payment system as required by Labor Code section 5307.1.

Title 8, California Code of Regulations (CCR) section 9789.31 is adjusted to conform to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 2008 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (HOPPS) correction notice to the final rule of Nov. 27, 2007, published on Feb. 22, 2008, in the Federal Register. CMS’ correction notice fixes technical errors that appeared in the CMS final rule published in the Federal Register on Nov. 27, 2007. 

The effective date of the changes will be March 1, 2008, and supersedes the adjustment to Title 8, CCR section 9789.31 made by the Order of the administrative director dated Jan. 24, 2008. The adjustments can be found at: http://www.dir.ca.gov/DWC/OMFS9904.htm.
