Sacramento, CA  (WorkersCompensation.com) – The Department of Industrial Relations’ (DIR) Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has created a new web page devoted to Senate Bill 863, which will make wide-ranging changes to California’s workers’ compensation system beginning next year.

The new web page contains a variety of materials that will assist in the transition to SB 863, which was signed into law by Gov. Brown on Sept. 18 and takes effect Jan. 1, 2013.

“The new web pages will answer many of the questions people have about the legislation, and how it will affect them,” said DIR Director Christine Baker. “Understanding the changes and making them work is the first step in realizing the goal of increasing benefits to injured workers and containing costs.”

The new web page also includes information on the Oct. 2 meetings by working groups formed to discuss regulation proposals. Subjects include home health care fee schedule, independent bill review, independent medical review, lien filing and activation fee, predesignation and cap on chiropractors as primary treating physicians, and supplemental job displacement benefit vouchers.

The new page can be accessed here: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/SB863/SB863.htm
