Sarasota, FL (WorkersCompensation.com) Two Sarasota Florida restaurant owners were arrested this week for failing to provide workers’ compensation coverage for their employees and operations. Both were arrested on Tuesday, August 7th.

The Florida Division of Insurance Fraud announced the arrest of Kevin M. Thomas, who they say did not have workers' compensation insurance for his restaurant, Shucks Seafood Grill, located at 7523 S. Tamiami Trail. According to court records, Thomas, 53, failed to comply with a stop-work order, pay penalties, or get the required insurance.

Also arrested was Rafael Perez, who owns the Floribbean Restaurant located at 1400 Main St. Investigators claim he falsely claimed to have workers' compensation insurance during an inspection. Court records state that Perez also failed to comply with a stop-work order or pay penalties.
