Sarasota, FL (CompNewsNetwork) - January 1, 2009 began the Implementation Timeline for the mandatory Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Act of 2007 (MMSEA). The impact of the legislation greatly impacts not only workers' compensation claims, but all non-group health plans, self-insurers, liability insurers, no fault insurers and group health plans. To learn more about what this means to the workers’ compensation industry, CompTalk Radio spoke with Tim Doherty, MMSEA Advisor for Specialty Risk Services. At SRS, Tim provides oversight on large loss claims including catastrophic claim management and serves as a resource between the SRS claims professional, the account, carrier partner and broker. Tim also provides training in settlement negotiation strategy, structured settlements and Medicare on workers’ compensation claims.
